Aussie here living in SE Queensland, away from the bush fires, at present. I rode a few trail bikes and road back in my teens and 20's.
Surfing, sailing and sailboarding up to late 40's then Mountain/gravel and road pushies. Old body decided enough at 60 and got back on motorbike a few months ago. Went cheapish and simple Honda 500xa for starters to regain skills and see if I still enjoyed it. Loving getting out for 200-400k rides so far and haven't had any drivers try and kill me yet, unlike on the pushies.
Some great bike riding in 300k radius of home. Time to think about the bucket list and a Trumpie is top of the list. Thinking either a Speedmaster 865 or newish 1200 and keep the honda, or a Tiger 800 xrx. I will be researching and hope to get a test ride or 2 first.

Welcome.from S. California Steve. I'm another old goat still riding way past his prime. I just turned 74 in November. Winter [near freezing almost every night ] here so not much riding going on. Sorry to hear about the fire situation down there. We sure got our share of that here last summer. A "Speedy" would be a good choice. Got.a.similar bike in my fleet. Post some pictures. Here is a picture of my old America....J.D.

Thanks for the welcome. California does get it's share of burns from media reports I see. I do like the Americas also, but being on the short side and light build thinking the less weight the better, still nowhere near the size (and running costs) of the Rockets.
It's good to have plenty of options of hills (Aussie mountains) with lots of twisties and not much traffic mid-week close by.

Hi Steve and welcome to the forum :cool:looking forward to seeing your choice of ride. Was in Sydney recently so saw how bad the smoke was, even effecting the weather here in NZ.:sob:
Thoughts go out to those effected and hope the rain helps this week.:worried:

Hi Steve and welcome in to the Triumph Asylum - Nursie will be round soon with your 'meds'.

Really sorry to see the devastation you're having with the fires, people losing their lives, theirs homes and businesses - it's just awful. And then to hear that some dozy drongos have been lighting fires - just terrible.

Cheers and good luck to you cobber,

    Dave

Welcome to the family. Yes agree with all the sentiments here. I really feel for the people who are losing everything even memories. I ask God what the people did to deserve such tragedy and I pray for rain to help restore the norm again. But do test some Triumphs and then decide. It will be great to have you here in the asylum with the rest of us.
    Regards & Ride Safe
    Joe.
