Surprised to find that Triumph does not have their own brand of oil. If they do I haven't seen or heard of it.
Is there an oil that they recommend? Had mine serviced last Friday and failed to ask & they're closed on Monday.
    Tks!

The handbook for my Tiger 1050 only gives the grade 10W/40 or 50 and advises semi or fully synthetic that meets spec API SH (or higher) and JASO MA. However the genuine Triumph workshop manual further suggests Castrol Power 1 Racing 4T, sold as Castrol Power RS Racing 4T in some countries.

I've asked the question "which oil do you use?" in several bike shops, covering a variety of makes. Almost invariably the answer is along the lines of 'as long as it's the right spec and a reputable make we use whichever is the cheapest'. Which is fair enough.

Triumph don't make oil, any product with the Triumph logo on eg coolant fluid etc are produced for them by leading manufacturers and just have Triumph on them, likewise most of the motorcycle parts and wiring are supplied by outside manufacturers, what Triumph do recommend is Castrol oil, it is used on all their test machines and press bikes, so the oil undergoes rigorous testing. Boothman's post is spot on, I know people who have used cheaper car oil and paid the consequences, these oils are not designed to work in wet clutch machines, likewise some makes and models do not work well with fully synthetic oil in their clutches, the plate scan and do stick, especially when left for a week or two.
