Hi guys , I have been looking all over the internet looking for Mobil 1 racing 10w 40 oil and for the life of me can't get any ?? Not in the uk anyway ? I see the 15w 50 but not 10w 40 it's crazy can anyone shed any light on this phenomenon? Thankyou .
Hello Oldyam , no I have been there only the 15w 50 available . Believe me I have looked I think I've got to go Castrol instead .
You mean the bike oil.....not the car stuff? Why not the Castrol equivalent? Your bike won’t know the difference. I doubt there is sufficient demand/profit for Mobil to start competing with a well established competitor.
Yes Callumity the bike stuff Castrol it will be, if I was in the USA it would be easy we are in a colder climate and they give us the warmer climate oil for some reason . I have heard good reviews about the mobil 1 and thought would give it a go but alas not .
T would have to agree, Amazon. There are so many different brands of lubes on the market today, no one retailer can possibly stock everything. Amazon usually saves you a few bucks anyway!
I would guess that since the merger with Esso the Mobil brand has retrenched in the UK. Have you tried Esso petrol stations?
Hi wishbone , I've even looked on their site no 10w 40 Mobil 1 racing? It will be castrol racing instead now never mind I've given up been looking for weeks
Sorry to ask but why do you need 10w40 Racing oil? I have used 5w40 or 5w/50! Just buy the best value oil that meets the spec
So are most others on Opie site or Eurocarparts just make sure it is Jaso MA2 Is the oil for Rocket 3? What about this: https://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-69341-...40-performance-synthetic-bike-engine-oil.aspx Price for the shell may be better at Eurocarparts with their SALE90 discount code.
Thankyou wishbone you have been very helpful I shall be changing the oil and cam cover gasket when I finally put the bike away as the weather has been good and yes for the Rocket can't keep off it , cheers happy New year !
Even fully mineral oils are up to spec for any modern engines these days its the additives that make the oil compliant with various types of engines/metals, i use a semi synthetic 20w50 in my trident (1975) which far out performs any oil of its day.
No worries, as an Engineer I find most of the public get too hung up on oils and stuff, most modern oils will be fine for normal bike/car engine use, the only issue is wet clutch on bikes.
