    Hi all,

there seems to be no "oil preference" threads in this forum (oddly, LOL) ... So here I am with an old like this world question - what OIL and what filter are you using ?

    Speedmaster 2008 EFI (tuned).

    Thanks

Thanks ! Interestingly on some other forums people say that fully synth is too thin for air-cooled and for semi- or mineral oil they are using 20w50 ?

The thinness or thickness of oil is gauged by it's viscosity - so a 10-40 is a 10-40 irrespective of whether it's mineral, semi-synth or fully synth. However, there is some truth in not using fully synth in older style engines as it has a very good creep factor and will find it's way past oil seals not designed for fully synth.

Personally for your bike Alex I would suggest a quality branded 10-40 semi-synth to JASO (motorcycle specific oil) standards, which takes into account that the clutch will be in this oil. Car engine oils don't do this.

Use a Triumph oil filter and all will be good. I have used alternatives and they were a little longer and stuck out in the breeze more.
