It topped 108.7°f. on my shady, leafy front porch yesterday. Wildfires burning all over the state (California). Are we having fun yet ? ...J.D.

Looks like today is going to be a bit cooler. We have a thick blanket of smoke overhead from a wildfire down south of us. The heat is keeping the smoke up at high altitude, so we are at least not breathing too much of it. NASTY though. Sky is kind of copper colored. Thank God for a big air conditioner :) ....J.D.

Pretty bizarre weather all over the US right now. Your cold front apparently is pushing the high pressure heat wave west toward us. Not your typical September. ...J.D.

Always a point of scale worth consideration. The UK can have massive meteorological differences between North/South or East/West... and yet the USA could fit us in 40 times over... you have weather conditions that we don’t get, simply because of your vastness... to put it into scale, in the UK you’re never further than 70 miles from the sea...

as far as I can tell, it’s 1030 miles in the USA

Weather fronts generally move from the Pacific to the Atlantic coasts. This week a cold.air.system dropped.down out.of.the north. That is more.typical of winter,.and.it is only.early September ! That really took the heat out of things here in the Mohave Desert. ...J.D.

Brrr went from 96 yesterday to 50. in the shop with my winter coat on, because my body is still in summer mode and hasn't acclimated. Had 30 mph north winds all day today. Our mean daily range is 25 degrees.
