Exiting roundabout last night in Basingstoke back end came round & down I went, fecking feckity feck it. Diesel spill was culprit, bike went down hard & has done a load of damage. AA recovery totally incompetent call it in 19:36 sent a patrol van at 21:45 with a dolly trailer which folds away in van, patrolman declared it too dangerous to assemble & recover where I was so ordered a truck which arrived at 23:00 without a wheel dolly, unbelievable! Told AA from outset n/s clip on was broken off. Didn’t get home until gone midnight so didn’t bother with A&E then, just sat there now waiting for x rays on hand, knee & ankle as all hurt this morning. We’ll now see how good Hastings insurance are!
Sorry to hear your news Billy and hope the injuries aren’t to serious. Looks like the Shoei NXR did what it’s supposed to do. As you say, see how good Hastings are. Hope it all works out to your satisfaction.
Thats typical you've not had the bike long and this happens, hopefully the insurance company gets things sorted out quickly
OH POO! Really sorry to hear this and just hope that the damage is limited to the bike and does not extend to you. I think, when you've had a day or two to get over the physical and psychological scrapes and bruises, a very stern letter of complaint should go to the AA. They used to call themselves something like "the fourth emergency service" - well, you wouldn't want a 3 and a half hour wait for any kind of emergency ... nor for what SHOULD be a relatively routine call for assistance. I'm sure I'm just echoing the thoughts and hopes of all on the forum that any injuries you suffered are minor and quickly repaired. The bike will probably take a bit longer but, hey-ho. I gather I'm quite good with letters of complaint so, if you do want or need any help in that area just let me know. Meantime - let the healing begin. Best of luck. Regards, Adie
Bad news mate, hope you get it sorted! At least you had a quality helmet on, and saved your face and bonce!
Bad news - and it happened in Basingstoke of all places! Sounds like you're battered and bruised but OK thankfully. Hope the insurance company play ball. Good advert for not wearing an open face helmet?
Oh bollox, that aint 'spose to happen, and a stupid way to find out how well you can bounce! Hope your injuries a slight, the bike can be easily be mended or junked. With the price of diesel what it is you think more people would make sure it goes through the engine, not the road. Terry
What a bummer mate. Echo all of the above. We've got half a dozen or so Shoei helmets in stock I can do at trade price plus postage. If you're interested pm me your size and I'll let you know what we've got.
All good thanks mate, nothing broken, just damaged ligaments in my thumb so got to wear a brace thingy for a while, apart from that bruises, but the leathers/armour/boots/gloves/lid all did their job ... I only said on another post the other day that I dress for the slide not the ride ... didn't think I was gonna prove myself right!
Hey thanks to all of you guys who have sent best wishes etc, that is that done so I guess the piss taking starts next!
