Hi guys, does anyone on this forum have a cure for vibrations coming up through the bars especially on the throttle side as my right hand goes numb after 30 minutes!!!! And does anyone else experience this on there speed triples mines on a 05 many thanks
Hi I suffer from this on a 12 plate R There aren't any bar ends fitted from when I got it. Does it make a big difference? If so I'll get some Cheers Steve
Very little vibration if any on my Bonnie EFI and that has them fitted. Certainly worth trying for what they'll cost.
Hi mick yes I have and I've also had the throttle bodies balanced think the next step is the grip puppies and possibly a new pair of gloves
In my experience of vibes they have been greatly reduced with a carb or throttle body balance. Have also known vibes come from loose or under-torqued engine bolts.
Yes I had vibration problems with my Explorer. This is the link to the thread https://www.thetriumphforum.com/thr...-with-vibration-comfort-wind.5873/#post-70315
I have similar issues with numb hands. Obvious but worth a try, make sure your gloves fit well and don't tighten the wrist strap too tight. Also it's worth managing/moderating how much force you use to hold the bars. Try relaxing your grip a little more. I hope this might help as its has done for me. Regards Matt
I'm a nightmare for over gripping. I do it without knowing i'm doing it. I just brought a set of them grip puppies that Ade mentioned on this thread, Will let you know if it helps.
I know this is stating the obvious, but: - Do ensure your wheels are balanced as best they can be. Just 5g out can cause a high frequency vibration at motorways speed. - Also, adjust the brake and clutch lever so your wrist is in line with your forearm, dont have your wrist bent back or forward to accomodate your levers, adjuest them to be comfortable to you. - Check your chain too, if it is not at the right tension, this may cause an issue, especially if it has a tight spot - although admitidly htis would be a lower frequency, a bit like pogoing of the front suspension - When riding, you need to relax your shoulders and elbows down so you are only lightly gripping the handlebar, this will reduce the shock transfering up your arm if/when you hit a speedbump or pothole.
Putting sand in the hollow handle bar pipes ! It's adjustable and reverse able, as I stated in the forum on roosters link above ! I've done this twice, once on Suzuki GSX 750 mid 80's model and my 94 Trident, as sand is a mobile/fluid solid it's very good @ damping vibrations !!! Cheers capt.
Barry Sheene said that you should only lightly grip the bars " ...as if you were holding a tiny bird"
Wheels balanced ? Particularly front wheel? Worth checking. Would also try increasing bar end weights.
I bought an item similar to the grip puppies and they work fantastic on my 16 plate Speed Triple. Remember - light grip and keep weight on the pegs not the bars.
Sand is cheaper ! And somewhat easier to work with, it's finer and easier to pour through a funnel, so a smaller hole/access required to get it into a bar end ! Can in some cases be done without removing the handlebars I'll shut up now as everyone wants a pounds worth not a pennies worth ! Cheers capt.
