Good morning. I'm coming back to bikes at 54. Last bike was a 2006 Fireblade I very much doubt my back, knees, wrists or most other parts of me would like a sportbike nowadays. I have decided on a Tiger 1050, seen a nice 08 plate at Staffs Triumph so will go and have a look on Friday. I used to ride everyday for 14 years, track days over to the TT for a fortnight but not ridden since 2010.
Any advice welcome really. Anyone else restarted? Did you just get on one or have training? I live in Staffordshire, married with grandchildren a Lurcher and a Whippet .... Love my whippets...
    Thanks in advance .
    Pat.

Hi Patrick, welcome to the forum. I got back to biking in 2010 after 40 years. Did a little refresher course, got me out of some bad habits. Just plod around now, and enjoy it. No what you mean about the dogs, they are addictive. Here are mine. Deer hound and tan are 15y, struggling with health issues, reason for not riding to Poland next month, and restricting nights away. Brindle whippet (large) Is 10 in August . Love em to bits.
Hi Patrick, welcome to the forum. Love my dogs as well.

@Patrick Horton Do go along and test ride a few Tigers and Bonneville's see what you think. And there is the 765 and 660's fantastic bikes that perform extremely well. As for bikes you never lose it. Only thing is to remember the bikes these day can move along and in most cases are lighter. Just treat them with respect till you know the bike and the Chareristics

    Welcome @Patrick Horton :grinning:
I got back onto bikes in 2018 after a break of about 17 years. Borrowed a mates Bandit 600 for a few months then bought a Speed Triple and loving it! Take it steady and it all comes back but be aware there are way more idiots on the road than there used to be!

Forgot to say Patrick you should never say never - I got back into bikes in 2014 at 48. Had my 2005 Daytona 650 for 4 years and then decided it was time to go all out and got a Fireblade. First a 2015 Repsol, but that only lasted for three months as it attracted too much unwanted attention (and it was an ABS model :scream: - enough said). Chopped it in for a 2016 Black Edition and have never looked back.
59 now and loving every time I get the Blade out. Admittedly it’s a mollycoddled machine as it only goes out in the dry and only ever gets a damp wipe over and polished (never seen a bucket & sponge).
I bought the Tiger 2 years ago to do the NC500 originally intending to sell it afterwards, but it’s earned its spot in the shed and gives me the latitude for longer trips with luggage and for rides in less favourable conditions when the Fireblade stays tucked up.

    Welcome Patrick!
After riding daily under all weather from 1988 to 2003, I stopped riding (home office, kids, a lot of music gigs, no more time and room for bikes).
Then after being badly ill in 2018, the first thing I did after feeling alive again was to buy a bike (FZX 750). I was 49, and had a 15 years riding hiatus. Then bought an exiting 1050 Sprint ST I still own, and recently added a Honda NT1100 for touring :) .. (and a 1984 Goldwing I rebuild slowly).
