Hi folks, I'm Lee and i've had bikes for +35 years. Found the forum while trying to find paint codes for my cousins t100 Newchurch. Currently riding a Thruxton, but I also have 3 other bikes. 1999 Suzuki TL1000R Had from new. 1973 Honda SL125 I've had since 1984 and is in a bit of disrepair due to unforseen circumstances. Sitting in the garage awaiting tlc and a bit of restoration. 1978 Honda CB50J Given to me in 1983 by my then girlfriends brother (he had upgraded to a suzuki gp100) and also needs restoring back to original as it was painted a different colour. thanks Lee
Hi Lee and welcome to the forum, well with those restoration projects to do there will be no boredom for you over the winter.
Ok sorry no pics of the CB50 Here's the Thruxton taken while out with my mate. The TL1000R still looking good at 19 yrs old And my very sad looking SL125 which is going to look great once its done
Lee. Welcome to the Family. Here is a good place to be. Especially for any advice these peeps are brilliant. Got to get them while they all got there meds and they will agree to anything. And those black beauties you have made loads of friends already. Ride Safe Joe.
Yeh the SL will take a while BUT I have a replacement tank, seat, exhaust and mudguards (which need a few little rust holes welded up) so its mainly strip and restore. I have the skills to repair and paint it myself properly. Then I plan to make moulds of the mudguards and make some fibreglass ones to go on and save the original steel ones once they've been painted. Should keep me busy for several months, just need to clear the rubbish out of the garage so I can at least move stuff around lol Lee
Lee. Have you seen my garage. I had a few sl's in the past. I thought they were terrific little machines. Regards Joe.
Mines full of kitchen refurb remnants from last year (sore point), had to find somewhere for 18 years worth of "stuff" from under the stairs to go. On the up side I did find some tools and a socket set I had forgotten about. Yes I love the SL that's why I kept it plus I'd had it since I was 18 so its got a lot of sentimental value and deserves to be made newish looking again. It wont be showroom condition but it will be very good. Need to find a fiberglass guru to find out how to mould the little pegs on side panels as I want to make copies of those too. Making a mould of the panel is easy but im unsure about the little mounting pegs.. Another little puzzle to solve later on. That's the only problem with older bikes, hard to find parts. Would love to get hold of a Triumph Tiger Cub (I think they were a 350) to do up but I probably couldn't afford one. My dad had one many years ago and still goes on about it now, he's almost 86. I think he would still be riding if the roads were less busy. Lee
