    Hi Guys!

    Just bought a 1996 Tiger 900 Steamer.
Always loved the looks of the early Tigers. Used to have a black one years ago, and always regretted selling it.
So, as I'm not getting any younger, I've bought a red one from RMC near Liverpool.
Lovely standard condition, just need a little mechanical fettling.

Forgotten how heavy these things are......

    Thanks guys!
The eagle eyed among you will have noticed that the rear shock remote reservoir is missing - I didn't!
On closer inspection, the pipe banjo has been removed and the shock port blanked off.
Anyone know if this is going to cause problems? The back end does feel a little stiff...

Hi Mart. Welcome from me, too. I also live in the south west (Mid Devon, between Wellington and Tiverton) so if you're close, feel free to come round and kick tyres, drink coffee, talk bikes!

If you've owned one previously, then you'll know how "soft and springy" they feel in stock form - maybe that's the reason the remote reservoir has been taken off? I don't know that it can cause any harm not having one on but I can't think why it should. Someone with more knowledge of suspension (wouldn't take much!) might be along shortly to correct me!

Your bike does look to be in very good condition and is one to be treasured now - don't sell this one or you won't have learned from past mistakes!:D

    Regards,

    Adie

    Thanks Adie,

Yes, it's is in excellent condition for a 24 year old bike, and I certainly intend to treasure it.
I've decided that the shock needs replacing - I don't think it's working properly, and the mismatch between the soft front end and hard rear isn't pleasant. So a Hagon it is.

I'm half way between Yeovil and Taunton, so yes, I would be good to meet up some time.

    Thanks again

    Hi Mart,
Bought my 96 five years ago as a winter runner. Spent a few bob on it, ECU, tyres, chain and both sprockets, rear Hagen and replaced the front springs 40k miles. Lovely bike to ride, first trip out was down to Lands End. I’ve got an Explorer XC 13 since and so she doesn’t get used much. Funnily enough I was looking at the weather this morning and thought that it was about time I unwrapped it got it serviced and had a blast

    That looks lovely!
I like that front engine guard.
Took mine out at the weekend, but it won't accept more than 1/4 throttle - need to pull the carbs and have a clear out I think.

Similar issue with mine at the moment Hopefully just a carb clean too. Not that I’ll be getting my hands dirty. I enjoy the riding not the maintenance I’m not sure about the engine guard which was fitted when bought. Lately I’ve been thinking about removing it and painting the supports black.
