Hi all.New to the forum.I have just stripped down my 1956 speed twin.I rode her in the 60s and so that puts me at 75 year youngbut she as not moved since 1971,so l've got a big job ahead.l noticed on the back end of the frame, looking at the right hand side, there is a slight bend in the down stanchion. It is that subtle it looks like a manufactured one by triumph.Any ideas thanks
Hi and welcome. Difficult to comment without a picture. If you have owned the bike for so long do you not have any idea on what the cause could be ? Asking for a friend
Hi Wessa. Thanks for the welcome, the bend is about 6in down from the top. There is no obvious dent and the oil tank and the shocker really protects the stanchion at that point.I have look on line at a few speed twins and lam sure l can see a slight bend. Not good with computers so don't know how to send photo
Ok no worries. First thing to do to load a file/picture is to take the picture on your phone. The open this thread and go to the new message box. Next to the post reply button is an upload a file button. Click on this and it will give you the option to open your photos. Just follow the instructions and you should get a picture loaded.
Thanks for the add, name is Nick currently restoring my T160 which I purchased from new in 1977, Back then it was a daily ride taking me to work and rallies at weekends both in this country and Europe, don’t think it ever failed to get me home, it’s final tax disc expired in 1987. I didn’t ride again then until I acquired a 1993 Hinckley 900 trident 900 sprint in 2000, I never did many miles on it and that ones last tax expired in 2008. Having recently retired I dug this out in the spring just gone and got that back on the road without too much difficulty, attention has now turned to my old faithful, I’ve had the frame straightened (long story) and it’s now in a multitude of parts, hoping to get it back to how it left the dealer.
