There I was surfing looking for bits for my Thunderbird 900 and I came across this forum so thought I join up and see what's going on. I've been riding bikes for 36 years, I'm on my second British bike the first being a BSA A10 way back when I was 18. Lots of Jap bikes and one very nasty accident nearly four years ago and the bike I plump for is a 1996 Thunderbird 900 end of August this year when the metal frame came off my leg . Why a 1996 bike? Apart from it having just over 9500 miles and being immaculate I hate cruisers and that's what I was faced with having t ride as my accident has left me with reduced range in my knee meaning I can't bend it enough to ride most bike. Luckily a Thunderbird came up at my local Triumph dealer and after one very enjoyable test ride and parting with cold hard cash I'm the lucky owner. I have a few "adjustments" to make it more comfortable to ride. One more operation tomorrow a quick recovery and then a winter of tinkering I need to move the right footpeg down and forward by 30mm, get the seat remodelled to increase the height, braided brake lines, span adjustable levers and a new Motobat battery for starters. Looking to pick up any tips and pointers.... .
Welcome and good luck with the op. I feel your pain - I’ve been there - my legs needed rebuilding after I fell off the side of a mountain (more correctly, the side of the mountain fell off and I was attached to it at the time, which isn’t a healthy option!). At the time I was told I probably wouldn’t walk again, but time and determination to get better and not let these things limit you goes a long way and it looks like you found the path forward!
Welcome in mate, good luck with your op and speedy recovery. Nice clean look bike you got yourself there!
