Hi Jim welcome to the forum and more importantly congrats to getting back on a triumph!! What are you riding?? Can you get some pics uploaded?? Enjoy, spring is nearly here !! :upyeah:
Put a pic on the gallery but here's another.had the triple since october and done around 1500 so far (but not easy in a British winter) I am a big fan of modding my bikes (the wife isn't) and I have a great many over the years but none have been left standard. The STR so far has been custom painted, custom seat plus standard with cowl,Rox risers, rizoma grips gps mounted ,arrow cans, carbon hugger and fender extender, radiator grill and barend mirrors modded.I have owned 8 harley which have all had the treatment and include a pic of the bike I sold for the Triumph, spent £5000 and hundreds of hours getting it to that point (explains the wives lack of enthusiasm).
Wow both look great Jim, who did the STR paint job? Is a tail tidy next on the list?? Check out concept carbons web site, he is a moderator on here, many bling mod bits.... If he doesnt show it he can prob still get it too or make it....I couldn't resist and he does discount for forum members.... :upyeah:
Hi Jim,the paint job was done by a local car paint guy up the road from was a bit sceptical but he has done a first class job total cost £250,on the wheels I got him to leave the outer 2cm unpainted then added the stripes in the pic.Wont be getting a tail tidy as the stock setup stops the spray going up the missis when its raining. On the subject of Carbon there is a guy in town who makes parts in carbon or fibre glass he made the seat cowl and carbon hugger £40 each.
Like the paint job :upyeah: Bet your neighbours loved you when you started that V Rod with open pipes!
Nice job Jim... There is another way to stop the spray covering your other half.... Dare I say, remove OE tail end, fit new tail tidy, next remove pillion pegs, and finally fit single seat cowl!! Lol
Lmao cheaper to buy your other half a nice used triple!! :upyeah: That seat looks comfy as hell man.... Nice one, I bet that got you some serious brownie points...
With both me and the mrs not being small people, we decided a bike each was the safer option. There is no way me and her would fit on a Street triple even with a bigger seat
Welcome the STR has an amazing paint job, looks really nice. but i would honestly swipe that aside for the bike in the first picture, just WOW now that's a bike! XD
Thanks for the kind comments.Maybe does seem a bit strange swopping the V ROD for the STR,but I had the bike 6 years ( the longest I've kept a bike) and as I mentioned earlier put countless hours modyfying it,but felt like I had come to the end of the road with it and couldn't think of what else I could do to it:smile: The other reason was up until last year the majority of our holidays were bike tours 2 up all over Europe. But then we bought a motorhome and started trailering the bike on our trips (retired so trips were up to 7 weeks at time) Great way to travel use the motorhome for travelling and living in,but the bike for exploring when we stopped places. But the trailer We had at the time had a steep ramp and manhandling the Harley up and down it was a real pain in the ass.So decided to go for something lighter hence the triple(have since got much easier to load trailer) ( AE Smith :: Trailer services I am a compulsive modder hence the changes to the street, but dont think I will be able to be as radical as I was with the V rod.but watch this space:smile: here are a couple of pics some other bikes I have altered.
Sounds really nice! hope to be doing something similar when i am retired XD and you really do have a talent for modifying bikes, Loving the blue paint job! would love to own and mod my own classic bike in the future
