Ok so gonna buy some new boots for my 2009 America when I get paid at the end of the months. Everyone on here raves about Avon Cobras. I can get a Cobras rear but not front I would have to go for an Avon roadrider. Is this the best combination for my bike? I'm no road racer but like to hustle no and again and I do a lot of 2 up riding. Grip is wet/dry is more important than longevity. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks on advance HappyAl
Hi HA, that Cobra/AM26 is a combo often used on America's & Speedmasters for some of the patients on here.
Back in May when I was looking for new tyres for my 2005 Speedmaster, I emailed Avon customer services and received the following reply.... "We recommend the following for your bike. 110/80V18 Roadrider front 170/80B15 Cobra rear " So that's what I went with and have been very happy with the tyres so far. Are these the same size as the America?
Not 100% sure but think the front tyres on the America and Speedmaster are different sizes....rear tyre size is the same
Tyres change with year. Later America's went to a fat front tyre. Mine's a MT90B16 on a 16" wheel which is equivalent to the metric size it comes with as standard, but I can't recall. Online says it's equivalent is 130/90 x 16. Fortunately for me, they do the Cobra to fit the fat tyre America's.
