I purchased a brand new 2018 Triumph Bonneville Bobber Black right out of the dealer with 1 mile on the odometer...at 67 miles, the engine light came on, so i brought it to the dealer to check it out...they said it's the oxygen sensor that performs over-spec, so they cleared the fault code...i took it home and rode it and the engine light came on again, so i took it back to the dealer...they said they have to order the oxygen sensor to replace, so I had to go home and wait...when they had the part, they called me and i brought the bike back so they can replace the oxygen sensor...1 month later at 750 miles, the gas gauge doesn't work - it shows 3/4 of gas in the tank no matter how much gas i have in the tank....so i brought it back to the dealer to check it out. again, they cleared out the faulty code and said i should turn off the engine using the key (which I always do - i read the Owner Manual from front to back)...so i brought the bike home...the next day, the gas gauge shows incorrect fuel again (stuck at 3/4 line and doesn't go up nor down...no matter how much gas i have i the tank)...at this moment, the bike is back in the shop at the dealer and i won't get it back until at least next Tuesday when the dealer is open again. Again, this is a brand new motorcycle and I just can't believe I have so many problems with it...anybody out there got the same issues as mine? I'm just venting this out as I'm just so pissed right now...
Don't blame you being pissed, seems that lots of new (all makes) bikes are having electrical issues these days.
Hi and welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear that you bike is playing up, nothing worse especially when it is brand new. I hope your dealer can get it fixed and you can then enjoy your new toy..... Wessa
Far Eastern consumer electrics are cheap with patchy quality. Unfortunately they tarnish the product. I suspect the cost accountants are going to be pushed back when it hits the bottom line. My fervent hope is that we repatriate a lot of this manufacturing. Prig alert. Oh and I believe you are dissatisfied not unsatisfied......or have you Americans changed the meaning? Over here momentarily means ‘briefly’ or ‘fleetingly’ not ‘soon’ and always has!
Grammar polizei here. I think you'll find both work. Bobber has a sense of dissatisfaction at unsatisfied desires.
Hope they get things sorted to your satisfaction soon Bobber. Sounds like your fuel sensor is at fault.
In common usage you are right but semantically it is the difference between quantity and quality. The other ones commonly mixed are uninterested (yawn) and disinterested (no skin in the game). OK Jez?
Welcome from smoky Calif. Sorry for your troubles. I have a 2018 Street Twin and it has been flawless for a year of ownership and 4,500 miles. I guess that is why we have warranties. Don't be too dismayed. Let them get it fixed and then enjoy your cool bike !! And on the gas tank gage, mine normally takes up to maybe 10 minutes or so to recalibrate after a tank fill. Is yours just not working, or just taking a long time to recalibrate?
nope. i filled up the tank and rode it for 60 miles...so it's supposed to show full then 1/2 then 1/4 at the end of the ride as it has always been...none of those happened...
Bastard is not spelled with an ampersand. Detention for profanity! I am also more expulsive than retentive.......don’t follow too closely!
OK, so spelling mistakes are wrong but typographical errors, three letter acronyms, normal abbreviations and texting abbreviations are acceptable then?
There's nothing quite so frustrating as your long awaited ride not performing correctly. Fingers crossed your dealer will resolve it quickly and to your satisfaction. Try not to let it taint your view of the bike though, you chose it for a reason and I'm sure that still stands. These are complex machines with lots of parts and wiggly amps moving around and despite our best intentions, sometimes they operate below par. Stick with it and I'm sure you will be out there and enjoying it again very soon.
by all means, i love my bobber black...it's a beautiful bike that's fun to ride as well. I just can't believe a brand new bike has that many issues.
