I took a parcel in for a neighbour this morning, she picked it up and opened the box to show us...............an ugly 'doll' thing that cries, you have to pull the green bogie to stop it crying!! FFS, what is the world coming to, I'm bloody glad my kids are grown up and left home, we thought 'Furbies' were far fetched!
Just found out its called Xeno, been around for a couple of years apparently. I've checked a few 'Top 10' lists, not 1 Scalectrix, railway set, or Meccano set, not even an Action man in any of them! Kids don't know what they're missing these days!
No, I did o.k., especially as my family had close ties to a firm called G&R Wrenn, who made train sets!! Also the then smallest racing car sets too, and a tug boat that had its own pool with a wire round it so you could control the boat, also got my first brand new Triumph, called a Pacific, 3 speed Sturmey Archer gears etc! All better than a snot tugging ugly doll any day!
If it's not a connected device - kids today are not interested. Scalextrix, train sets, super flight deck and Evil Kineval on his stunt bikes - kids haven't got a clue. Children do not want to be kids - they want to go straight to adult - more fool them..
Well, when I was a lad....... I was lucky to have handed down meccano, plenty of conflake boxes, sellotape and scissors. I made my own cars, vans and trucks all taped together and painted. I still work with cardboard for templates although I make body panels now with steel and alloy for top end classic cars now!!
