Based on the principle that the Bonneville T100 rear fender is that big because "its design is impacted by legislations" (source: Triumph Motorcycles, which I may have read somewhere :D )

How legal is it to mod and to what extend ? o_O

If I want to remove my rear fender, I know i have to keep symmetry between my lights and the licence in the middle. (that's very clear in the law, apparently, seen on triumph rat ).

But Can I remove the fender ? Is it legal ? Will it pass MOT (as an example it is very advised to refit your stock exhaust before MOT apparently)?

What is usually done but illegal ?

    Sam.

The tyre cannot be the be last part of the bike(if that makes scene) hence the long number plate hangers.
Saying that mine's been through 2 MOT's with a tail tidy on,non stamped exhaust and no rear pegs, had to put a reflector on though.
Find a good MOT tester ;)

Thank you very much @roadrider and @Volksrat for your precisions. it's very much appreciated. I do understand what you both mean. Do any of you had any troubles with your insurances regarding those mods ? ( they constantly ask me if I changed anything )

I've never had a problem with insurers, putting on a FEK doesn't really bother them, so many people have fitted them, if there was a problem, I don't think they'd sell too well !!...

If it's cosmetic you should be okay, start chopping the frame and putting a blower on and they start getting twitchy.
I've just insured mine and the only thing on their list was my exhaust.

Fortunately, you do NOT want to see any stamping's on an exhaust, the only stamps you will see now is 'NOT FOR ROAD USE', 'E' and BSI etc disappeared in law ages ago, its now upto the MOT inspector to decide if the exhaust(s) are too noisy.

Used to when I had naughty ones fitted to bikes, with-out BSAU etc, but not since, if its not too noisy then no probs.

The lunatics on those race quad bikes that are not for the farm use type that race cars on the road and have no consideration for other people. I other word the wild machines used by village idiots with all four wheels protruding in an unsafe manner.
