I found the Palmer Products kit for newer Sprints but nothing to fit my 2001. Anybody know of an alternative or work around?
    Thanks.

A company called Vareo make adjustable footrests for bikes, available from Ebay over in UK and there are cheaper Chinese versions also. They have about 8 adjustments by moving the peg round, lower, higher, forward and backward
They do the job but the ratchet design places your feet slightly further outwards and I found it awkward to use the gear lever, had to ride pigeon toed.

I have a 2011 Sprint GT 1050, and I lowered the pegs by modifying Buell footpegs, providing a 25mm drop. This is about the limit of the brake and shifter adjustment. I've provided a post from an earlier note, showing the part number (from a USA seller). It required a fair amount of grinding to fit into the footpeg bracket on the bike, but, being aluminum, was pretty easy.
    I hope that helps!

This mod doesn't force your feet away from the shifter and brake pedal.
