    Hi All,

My first post here and wanted to ask your advice on what Im about to do with my money.

Triumph dealer here have a left over ST R 16 matt grey which has probably been sitting around for a good year, if not more. I can tell because I checked the VIN online and its a 16 model.

Its brand spanking new and for sale with a 3k discount! so I think its a steal for this bike even if its a 2016 model.

Should I be concerned of any mechanical issues since they bike has been still for so long? I checked the tyres and they are fine, not dried up or anything. But what about other parts, engine, suspension, brakes etc??

Its such a beautiful machine, I personally think it looks better than the 18 RS, especially the rims & gold ohlins!!

    Many Thanks

Go for it! Sounds like you have fallen for it already, and hell of a good saving.

Unless your BSB standard rider, your not going to notice the difference in bike ability. I tested same bike, it is feckin brilliant bike

See if you can get fresh rubber fitted, but if not, don't worry about it.

As long as they are giving you a warranty as its new then i see no problems, remember there is always more to be had in a deal even if its some extras fitted, i am very pleased with my 16 R :)

Most of the new bikes that I've bought have been 1-2 year old 'new' bikes. As mentioned above, with a full warranty, you will sort out any issues that might pop-up from sitting. However, I never had any on my bikes. The best part is that if you have to sell the bike in a year or two, you won't take such a big loss since you are getting a healthy discount.

If it is the original tyres they would be Pirelli Super Corsa which are soft rubber best suited to spirited riding on warm days.
You would be lucky to get past 4,000 miles on them before they need changing anyway...not the best tyres in the rain but with the saving you make you could get your tyre of choice for when they need replacing

Regarding the engine, it would be provided with very light oil to start with which is changed at the first service, this would clear out any cobwebs from standing still for a year or so

My vote to is go for it....

Its got the original tyres which are well suited for sunny Greece:cool: and our crapy slippery roads

Do you think I should ask for an oil change before riding out the first time and then get another change at the 1st service?

Another issue I've got is here in Greece ST's are not very popular and probably a hard sell when used. Is it possible to sell to the UK market, do people buy outside of the UK?

I work in a dealership. Shouldn't be a problem mate as it will be given a health check before being sold. Get your first 800km service done soon as you can and enjoy the ride. Sounds like a cracking deal, especially if you can get a few extras added.
