Help and advice please I have 2010 street triple and just putting a tail tidy on, and decided to change the stock indicators. I purchased some from eBay with built in resistor. I tried them direct to battery and they work fine Connect them up and nothing Tried old stock ones back on and they work fine Tried led ones again and nothing not a flicker yet put direct to battery and work fine. Any advice what I am doing wrong ? Thanks
Try reversing the wires? Led indicators need pos and neg to be correct where normal lamps don't. Possibly wired up wrong (as some fleabay spesh's are) so worth a go.
yeh I did try that also ...., it’s like if they are not getting enough power But power is there as old ones work if I try them ......
Unplug front ones rear ones come on slightly not fully just very weak Attached front led then it makes them both go off Take back led off Front led comes on so so weak so can’t have both on and even if one it’s very very weak seems like lack of power / load Any ideas now ?
Electrickery is a strange thing , My Tbird has led rear lights and is wired for a tow bar and trailer, I changed the old trailer rear lights out which were bulbs to led as I know they would draw less power, like you wouldnt work or to be honest they were barely on my mate gave me two old resistors from old circuit boards he keeps and told me to wire in line on the positive cable, piff paff poof and all was fine. Strange shit this sparky thing
The ones I purchased off flee bay are supposed to have them in but..... these cheap things may not ...... these are the buggers below https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/313165780911
Have a butchers at these..... before you say yes am a cheap date https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/313165780911
If those are the ones that you have, I’ve heard that the sequential ones don’t work well on triumphs? If it’s directly on the battery, ecu’s are not involved. If it’s on the bike, then the bike is in charge of what the indicators do. I have a speed rs and even the official triumph sequential ones don’t work well which is why I won’t have any. Not made my mind up if you are a cheapskate yet....
Yes they are the ones I have And yes direct to battery they work fine but wired in there getting no power is it the indicators then ? Am I wasting my time with them ?
Have you measured the resistance of the new indicators? A 21w standard bulb is typically around 7ohms so the LED's with resistors should be the same. If they're much higher the flasher relay/ecu might see an open circuit.
no I haven’t measured them, but I thought even though they say they have built in resistors I was going to order led flasher unit to see if that resolved it ??
Just to let you know Them cheap indicators of cheese bay that were supposed to have built in resistors ( I thought save me other work ) anyways purchased an led relay off eBay for about 7 squid plugged in now cheap led indicators work like the bomb thanks for your help and hopefully this may help someone else also
Well done Andy I'm sure sharing that will help others that buy them, As for working like a bomb, what makes you think they'll gan BANG
