Anyone in the Retford Notts area that could turn me a couple of small pieces in Ali or stainless for my bike please?

Thanks for the interest but all sorted now.

Have made some alterations to my Arrow exhausts. Without the baffles they were a bit too loud but the responsiveness of the bike was better and fuel consumption improved from 38-40mpg to 50-52mpg!

After a bit of research on the RAT forum I found that by making a 'straight through' baffle the tone could be deepened and the harshness reduced a little.

To keep costs down and without the availability of any metalworking facilities I mocked up a similar set up using stainless tube from a henry hoover of all things, which matched the brushed finish of the exhaust and fitted neatly over the inner baffle pipe. To centre and seal this in place I then experimented with a couple of 'donuts' which fitted snuggly over the tube and could be held by the original circles. To check the sizing I used 2 rolls of insulation tape, the centre cores of which matched the stainless tube! I peeled away tape to reduce the diameter until I got the correct fit and then replicated the donuts in timber so I could fit these and try out the sound. Once I was satisfied I needed to replace the timber with metal and managed to find a local engineering shop who for a contribution to their tea fund were happy to turn me a couple of rings in aluminium. All fitted now and the sound works well.

The beauty of this mod is that the Arrow exhaust is undamaged and the original baffles can be dropped back in when needed.

    Great work, well done you!
That is the "can do" attitude I like.

Nifty , nice work I love that principle. Nice to see its not lost in the 'if it ain't on the computer it doesn't exist' mentality these days.

Excellent, looks really smart and cost you pennies to do.

Out of interest what type of rear shocks have you got on ?

I'm using the stock suspension all round on my bike; set at the softest level front and back.
