Got my 2015 out of storage for its MoT.
Filled the empty plastic tank with fuel, to find the tank had deformed over the last 6 months of storage!
Picture shows a gap of about 1 - 3 mm (varies) around filler flange where the tank has deformed. The rubber seal is doing nothing, apart from letting the fumes out!
Leaks where the locking filler cap will not seat on plastic filler hole.

Spoke to dealer, who said they had not had any issues, yet the internet forums have plenty of postings where the tank has been f****d by ethanol / methanol?

He said a new tank is £760................. thanks!

If you empty it and leave it may reshape.

It think it went wonky over the period it was stored. The tank was pretty much emptied, siphoned what I could out, and then stored for the last five months. Its been empty again now for a couple of days, as the stink was coming from the garage into the house!
    Did a search on google:
    https://www.google.com/search?q=ktm+690+duke+fuel+tank+distorted&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b
And it is not an uncommon fault:eek:
The dealer said they would raise a case with KTM, I'm not holding my breath though. I was just about to put a deposit on a KTM 790 scalpel:mad:...... not now though methinks!

My plastic tank on a 955i distorted when it was removed then, when emptied gradually reshaped again, thats why I mentioned it. It seems you have a different issue.

Bit ambiguous that manual. Says only use super unleaded (98 RON), but in the line above, says regular 95 RON.
Personally if the tank's construction is that sensitive to fuel composition, then a warning sticker should be on the bike somewhere.

That is pretty much how it was stored.
    In a garage and covered.
Fuel drained, battery out of bike but on a tender

    Update!
Got a call from the dealers, KTM have shipped a new replacement tank.
    I get a new tank.
Dealer gets an hours labour (£84) off me.

    Everyone's happy(ish)

KTM quote 169kg dry, took a demonstrator out last week, its kin rapid!
105 BHP, clutchless up- and downshift quickshifter, on the fly mapping change. Standard exhaust sounds great with a nice overun popping!
A lot of bike for the money £8.5k:p

PS: Best of all. its got a metal tank!;)
