The mirrors on my speedy were useless, all they did was give me a good view of my elbow. Fired up the lathe and made a couple of 50mm extensions, the thread is 10x1.25 (metric fine) used some ally bar l had kicking about, the lock nuts are stainless and I painted them nice shiny black. I now have a perfect view of what's going on behind. Simples!
I would very happily be your first customer, speeder! As lovely as my elbows are...it's not ideal only being able to see them! I've been looking for various alternatives but can't settle on anything I particularly like...so perhaps keeping what I have, only longer, is the way forwards...
I have been reading so much lately, and seeing pics of bikes, with bar end mirrors I'd thought I'd give them a try. I ordered a cheap pair to try out the other day. I should have done this a long time ago. I love the clean look and it took me one ride to acclimate to the change in position. They have a slight convex shape to give a nice view. I was thinking of replacing them with a better pair, but why bother. These look nice and work. If it ain't broke don't fix it!
undefined Yes, i have an offside one on another bike and they certainly do work. The only downside that I can see is that they increase overall width a bit. With the extenders the mirror / handlebar overhang is about half the width of the mirror.
I can program computers, and while it gave me a good living, it's a bloody useless skill to have in retirement. I'm really envious of folks that can make stuff, especially if the result is as professional looking as your mirror extensions.
I have bar end mirrors on my Daytona and to be fair if the mirrors get close to hitting anything i really shouldnt of gone through that particular gap
Yes, things often go that way; give me a lathe and a milling machine and I can make most things....I'm absolute crap with computers though!
Inspired, but lathe-less...I hunted and found these.... Motorcycle 10mm thread CHROME BLACK Mirror Extensions Stems 60mm 100mm Long | eBay https://ebay.us/gUH3ni They came in about 48hrs, fit well, seem well made, and certainly do the job!
undefined inundefined Yes, they look good. I certainly couldn't make them for that price as l only have a manual lathe, they are probably knocking them out on an auto machine. Glad you got it sorted.
