Watching the nooze, footballers kneeling in support of black lives matter.

Fair enough, (in my opinion, ALL lives matter, but hey) but I just don't understand the kneeling? Why are they kneeling? I've seen a few images lately of folk kneeling in support of black lives matter.

I'm probably just being thick, but what's the reason?

Started by Colin Kaepernick of the San Francisco 49ers, who did it when required to stand for the national anthem as a protest against racial inequality. Now it's become a bit of a fashion statement it seems to me :)

Ah, now you mention it, I remember the hoohah that caused now.

I just thought it was maybe a bit tactless given the poor guy who died through being kneeled on....

In this particular case they are kneeling for the same amount of time that the officer who knelt on George Floyd's neck did to kill him. IIRC it's for around 9 minutes.

They've been doing it here for a few years now. I stopped watching the NFL because of it. As a veteran of the military I find it is disrespectful to the flag. They can kneel if they want, and I can stop watching if I want.

    It's more brainwashing bullsh!t Sandy.

As you quite rightly said, ALL lives matter. Some more so than that of an alleged career criminals life.
Unfortunately, the other lives may not be within the correct ethnic groups?
Therefore, apparently they aren't quite so important?

It gets complicated. But don't loose any sleep about it mate. All you need to know is you don't belong to one of the ethnic groups that matter as much as some others do!

Hmmm. I learned that at a very early age. In primary school in fact. Mother had bought me some two-tone jeans, remember them, blue at the top, then a different colour below the knee. My first long trousers. Wore them to school.

At the assembly the head teacher announced that after that day anybody wearing these trousers to school (I was the only one, mind, talk about singled out) would have them removed and they would spend the day in their undercrackers. So, back to shorts it was, didn't have money for multiples of trousers.

Dr Hassans boys, they turned up wearing them a month or so later. Nothing was said. Lesson learned. Obviously he was a doctor too, so mustn't upset him on two counts.

Found out later that my dad had actually booked the head teacher on a traffic offence, which may have had some bearing on it too.

The only time I kneel is to get a better aim.

First time I saw this was during a demo in the USA, demonstrators and police eye to eye and toe toe. At the command, all police officers went on one knee.

And the effect ? ALL the tension between the two groups disappeared. It was truly wonderful to see.

This is a really hot topic here in the states! My opinion is that it is the time they have chosen to protest, not the kneeling. I have never taken this as an act of disrespecting the flag or the military. What I don't understand is why they do not take a second before the game begins for a moment of silence. this would afford all those , who choose, to take a knee, thus not offending anyone. Too simple I guess. that's just my 2 cents!

If I knelt for 9 minutes, I would NEVER be getting up. :)

I'm with this guy . Didn't serve in a war to take a knee to anyone. Well , eh 'hem , if her Majesty the queen wanted to bestow a knighthood, I wouldn't turn it down .

Sport and politics should never be mixed, remember the shitstorm a couple of years ago over the Poppy?

the duplicity is sickening, I'm done with the premier league while this shit is going on.

Can any of our Mercan cousins shine some light on the situation between Trump and the NFL ? He was stirring up the kneeling situation because he never forgets when he has been put down, and at one stage he was attempting to take over the NFL but was stoutly rebuffed, I believe ?
