while i really enjoy my Triumph, i have been missing longer touring, wind and weather protection and room for lots of unnecessary stuff. So i found this pristine 2000 BMW R1100 RT. A few farkles that I would have done, all original parts, the seat is original and perfect. No Sevo assisted brakes and no CanBus crap. 52k on the clock, which for a boxster is just about broken in. All required services just done. Im stoked.
Hi Phil, that looks a real beauty. I've had 2 R1100RT's one with a 110,000mls on it and still running great. Before you start your touring, might I suggest that you have the paralever drive unit checked/serviced. Owners have a tendancy to forget about it because they think it does not need attention - right up until it parts company with the bike and your wallet !!!
No hate here. Nice ride. Been riding my 96 Sprint for 22 years and just this last summer picked up a 2006 BMW K1200S with only 10K miles on it for a nice price. It has handlebar riser kit and adjustable pegs. Fits me great and I look forward to doing some more distance riding like I did with the Sprint over the earlier years.
thanks all. yes, not giving up the TTR. final drive fluid was just changed as will as new tires, brake hoses, brake pads. just going to change gear box fluid. I’ve had several beemers including R,GT and S. I’ve forgotten just how comfortable the R1100 RT is.
Funnily enough I also was looking at either of those Beemers (well not those exact ones but the models) as well as a 1050 of some description. I think I'm going to stick with a Trumpet though.
Lovely bike geezer, been looking at them meself as a distance tourer, and it looks stunning, enjoy life while ya can mate
Thought you might need this to decipher this UK term mate Geezer - bloke, a person in general. The British equivalent of the American slang word "dude". In the U.S.: An old man, particularly one who is either cranky or eccentric. Rather derogatory term. Hope that helps
That cracked me up I didn’t think to see where that member (geezer) came from...I must start talkin proper! Thanks for letting said member understand British slang terms Helmet Visor, good on ya
Another mystery solved! I never understood why you guys were always calling each other crotchety old man!
The Harley Touring rigs, in the USA, are oft referred to as "Geezer Glides". Once of my riding friends, who is quite a bit older than me, relishes this term as seen on his CVO Electra Glide in picture.
Lol. thanks for the explanation. I didnt take offense, as ive paid my dues and reaping the rewards of old age and senior discounts.
