Hello: I have finally made the transition from a 2001 VFR-800 (pre-VTEC) which lasted me all 19 years. The GT was registered in 2014, but then sat almost unused from 2015 to present (I don't know why), and has under 8000 on the clock. It has been treated to new oil & filter (fancy being able to do that without remving the fairing!), and I am slowly learning how to do things on it. I will be lurking for a while, but may feel the impulse to respond occasionally when stuff is new to me (as most of it will be). I live near Farnham, Surrey, and am a retired aerospace engineer - I do all my own servicing (not necessarily completely to schedule). I hate top-boxes, but have already found this one useful. It may come off. Here's hoping to years of trouble free riding!
i Have also just bought a Sprint SE after running a Guzzi for a few years, only done 100 miles on it so far but i am impressed. Will also service myself (Although Guzzi valve clearances where easy). Just joined Forum .

Hello fellow newbie! I won't admit to my valve clearance schedule on the VFR, but hope to do better on the Sprint. Whoever of us gets there first can perhaps help the other. I can say that changing the main-beam head-light bulb is rather more work than on the VFR (and that £12/pair LEDS are not that bright).
Yes, valve check not due for a couple of thousand miles but will have a look early, something to do on these dark evenings, next week I am going to strip and Lube rear wheel bearings. Not sure if these jobs are necessary but all these forums make you a but paranoid.
Hi @Jim Dickinson and welcome to the forum you will get a better welcome if you open your own introduction
