Hi to you all. I have just this moment in time, joined the Triumph forum. I bought and Triumph America instead of another Harley. I traded my old Harley in for this. Got issues with this bike though? Anyway HELLO BIKERS
Hi Tinabiker biker & welcome to the forum View attachment 2366 . Whats the issues you have with the America then? Do you find it a better bike in general than the Harley or are you regretting your purchase?
Hi welcome to the forum, lovely looking America. Pig has one too so I'm sure he can help if you have a problem.
Apparently the ECU is been programmed by Triumph to limit the speed to about 95 mph. I took it back to the Dealer and they can't do anything about it, also said it was the screen holding it back (bull 1). I phoned Triumph and they said it was not able to reprogramme and it may blow the engine if it was overridden (bull 2). Its done on the speed of the bike so a smaller back sprocket won't alter that so its got to be done on the ECU. The bike itself is just what I wanted and its better in some way than the Harley but the sportster I had did go faster than this. This one is good handling and seems to drive on rails. The speed thing just lets me feel angry. Also its dangerous when you expect more but the throttle dies at 3/4 twist on the throttle grip. I have posted my gripe on the Technical part of this forum as well!
If you go on the RAT forum, Triumph Forum: Triumph Rat Motorcycle Forums they are mainly Americans & are pretty helpful. The speed restricted later modeled EFI Americas/Speedmasters has been discussed no end, do a search, grab a beer or cup of tea, sit back & feed your mind with knowledge. The answers are there & you can release more power from your bike with a few simple modifications & re-mapping.
Thanks Screwball.... got to put you guys in their place... I also was an engineer so you can't pull the wool over my eyes:upyeah: I know the jargon. ha ha
