Manouvering the bike through the garden gate tonight resulted in me catching the peg on the gatepost. With a bang, even though it was potter pace. It's ripped the footpeg clean off and the hanger is fractured/buggered. I had to spend a minute finding the footpeg. Then TEN minutes finding it again once I picked it up, threw it on the grass in anger and it bounced into undergrowth. There has been a gin or two taken tonight to adjust my frazzled synapses. I've posted a wanted ad but if anyone has a L/H hanger I would be terribly interested.
ChasChas We all have done similar in our time. So don't eat yourself up over it. Yes it is cash to spend but just put it to the back of you mind and go for a spin when the steed it feeling better. Regards Joe.
I'm hoping to get it welded in the next couple of days so I can continue riding while I search for a replacement.
Tanqueray is first choice. Second is Empress, which I don't know if you can get. I know Duck wouldn't like it because it is purple. Believe it or not I started drinking gin way back when because of the Tinker character on Lovejoy.
There are no bad reasons. I've not seen Empress but, despite it being bordering on 'baby gin' at 40% my solid favourite (please note the spelling as you're evidently an ex colonial) is Ophir, powerful peppery aromatics. I've heard it might be uber premium price that side of the pond, don't bite unless you're a millionaire. It's good, I won't pay more than £20 a 70cl bottle for it though.
Haha The first thing my wife does when we look at a bottle of something different is check out the alcohol content. That's my girl! I'm sure Ophir is available in larger cities. We are limited here in small town USA to a handful of common gins. I agree on the price limit -Tanq is close to it at about $35 US. Exceptions can be made, though, when something comes recommended.
I think we've established a certain commonality that will allow an exchange of recommendations on this specific and important matter
Hendrick's, Hendrick's Orbium, Uncle Val's, Citadel, The Botanist. My gins of choice...in no particular order. Love that you can remember why (and when?) you started drinking gin, JtC. I honestly have no recollection of that particular fact. But I do remember reading an article about Hendrick's and starting to drink that gin before it became quite popular. I like to think I started the Tucson trend of restaurants carrying it.
Life is too short to drink bad, cheap gin. Or bourbon. Or rye. Or tequila. Or Scotch. I guess I'd throw wine into that list, too. The beauty of my go to gin, Hendrick's, is that I can get is for $29 at Costco or Sam's Club.
I do enjoy Tanqueray and Bombay Sapphire, but was going to post this in what are you drinking today Sorry to hear of your peg incident Chaschas
Getting back to the hanger I just had a quick look on Ebay and it looked like there was one or two on there. But maybe not for your bike?
