Well, I seem to have made a good decision in 2020 with the purchase of my Speedmaster. I had been without a bike for almost a year, having sold my Victory in the fall of 2019. I wanted something smaller than the big Vic. I wasn't doing long distance runs anymore. I just didn't need a huge cruiser. I was seriously looking at an Indian Scout. Nice bike, but I'd always been interested in the Triumphs. The Indian boasts 110 HP. I don't look at that as a big selling point as much as when I was a kid. I don't need to go that fast. The Indian had more stretch for my 6'2' frame, but not so much more that I still wouldn't need to get either forward controls or highway bars to mount foot pegs. They were similarly priced at the time (the Speedy was a 2018 leftover). Then there is that fugly engine. It just doesn't do anything for me. I also looked at both a pre-owned America and a Thunderbird, but alas, Triumph doesn't build either anymore. I didn't want a used bike, so the Speedy came home with me.

It looks like Indian may be going the way of the buffalo. I just read that Polaris has sold the brand to Candlewood LC, a company that specializes in scooping up brands that appear to be floundering. They have restaurants and a hot sauce company. Not exactly confidence inspiring when talking about taking on a motorcycle company. One of the reasons I sold the Vic was because Polaris ditched the brand. Parts and dealer service were becoming an issue. I'd be in the same boat if I'd bought the Indian. I hope it goes well and this outfit is able to save the brand, but I think we all know the drill once this type of deal occurs.

That's crazy, it didn't seem to be doing too bad and as you say Polaris had already killed off Victory as they didn't want competition for Indian. It would be a real shame so let's hope someone steps in and moves the brand forward.
