In the process of going through an insurance claim .My bike is almost ready and I am told it will be ready for collection on the 4 June .I am told by the Insurance company that I will have to pay the repairer the access of £500 ,even though is was not my fault ( a twat pulled out in front of me and knock me off the bike ) Is this normal proceeded to have to pay the access first even though it was not my fault and then I have to claim it back of the idiot that pulled out in front of me ????

I think currently you are claiming off your insurance until the dispute is settled, so you would need to pay the insurance excess and claim it back off the other party once the dispute is settled.

It is common to have claim the excess back from your insurer. You should check with them to make sure .

In a word, yes you are liable to pay the excess, they don't work very hard for their premium!
If you have legal cover as part of your package, then they will go after the third party for you, if not you'll have to do it.

In the past i've written to the other party giving them 7 days to pay up. (after i've paid my excess). Otherwise, i've threatened to take them to the small claims court. This had the effect of their insurance broker ringing me up saying they would fight it all the way. I told him to get stuffed, it had nothing to do with him.
I got a cheque about ten days later off the other parties insurance company.
