Just got my daughter her first car, not 17 yet, but going to tidy it up and paint it for her. Little MG ZR 1.4, cost £400. Tried to insure it today, just so I can move it around to my unit, to my mates yard to paint, etc. Bloody insurance companies want more than I pay to insure the Jag! Can't use my no claims, cos using on jag. The bunch of robbin feckers. I fecking hate how they always use the rules to their benefit, totally ignore my 20 plus years driving without a claim!!! total bunch of twats.
Feel better now MrO? What on earth would make you think an insurance company would do you any favours?
Contracts of insurance are basically a bet. (In fact it is the only bet on which you can sue for payment) They bet it is not going to happen and you pay the stake according to their assessment of the probability and the bill. Given your situation you might find a specialist, (very!) limited mileage policy is much cheaper than the standard item that assumes 14,000 miles per year.
This was based on 5000 miles a year, still a bunch of twats. Not even a fair bet, I don't get the choice to not gamble, which i happily would !!!! Feck insurance, you pay them money, it goes wrong, they fight not to give it back to you when the bet pays out !!!! I get my car hit whilst on the drive and 5 years later i am still paying for it ??? WTF is that all about ??? As Andy says, all the rules in their favour, scum sucking tosspots.
Never tried it, Mr O, but could you get a multi car policy to cover both cars in your name with your daughter as a named driver on the MG? Or are Nursey's meds a bit strong and causing me to hallucinate? It really is nice here in Cloud Cuckoo Land!
£445 for my learner daughter as a named driver on my policy (1.25 2003 Fiesta) seven months later she passed her test and they wanted an additional £923 for the remaining 5 months of the policy only two words for them one is robbing I'm sure you can guess the other
Multi car policies are another marketing ploy......no cheaper when I had 3 cars and a bike to insure, in fact more expensive.......
Unfortunately my current insurer doesn't do multicar policies. They are a specialist for Teachers and bloody cheap, just won't add a 2nd car. First thing I tried. Only renewed in March, so take a big hit cancelling and then taking a new multi-car policy out, not any cheaper than just insuring the MG. Have found a specialist that does low mileage 2nd car insurance, will call them tomorrow.
Here we go again robbed by MCE this time returned a bike due a fault and cancelled the policy £156 paid to them 3 weeks later cancelled the policy £36 returned to me!!!!!!!! These legal highwaymen need to be taught a lesson, I now it's only small beginning but I ask all of my fellow Triumph owners not to use MCE ever tell everyone don't give them your money I'm fucking fuming mad and sick to death of these robbers. Rant over nursie arrived
Hi Rocker, I thought that was absolutely normal for UK vehicle insurers to clip you like that if you cancel early? Over here in France when you buy a years insurance you get 365/6 days of cover, if you only usefor a small period the annual premium is divided by 365, then muliplied by the number of days ACTUALLY used. So in your example over here is would be £156 divided by 365, then multiplied by 21 (3 weeks) which would equal £8.69 charge. Therefore the reimbursement would be £156 - £8.69 = £147.31.
They did exactly the same to me, wouldn't put my second bike on the new policy wanted me to take out a second policy. Like I could be riding both at the same time Barstewar** I got nothing back cos it was on 30 days !! Wouldn't EVER use them again !!!
Agree, Unless the second lowest quote, is double what MCE quote, I shall be telling them to go fuck themselves this year. Been treated like shit now I have a claim. And don't pay extra for leather cover, like fucking blood from a stone.
That's a few mad as hell MCE customers already keep spreading the word I want them to suffer, all you facebookers do your best enough is enough
Trouble is that MCE are brokers not the insurance company. You often get the same insurer e.g. Zenith and the same policy through the different brokers e.g. MCE, Swinton etc. The different brokers will have different charges for changing or cancelling policies, on top of what the insurance company wanted. Changed my bike in July had just under 6 months left on the policy, would have got nothing back, so left it. But It was in the Ts&Cs when I took out the insurance.
I have let them run before myself but this can cause problems if the new owner uses the vehicle without insurance there's a post on here somewhere the cover still in force is used to recover losses right or wrong. My gripe is £156 turning into £36 in 3 weeks pure robbery!!
