I need your help with a close up photo please

Hi all
Im fitting a single seat to my 2012 MY America. I am wondering what you guys with bikes with separate front and rear seats have in this area.

Pic one shows the latch pin that projects out of the steel mudguard that I will have to displace.
Pic two is the whole thing showing the bolt hole where the tab at the rear of the dual seat is fastened to the mudguard.

Im interested to see how an earlier 2 seat model is set up.
