Today I rode the last time with my "small" BMW R12 NineT the 100 km to my trusted Triumph dealer (www.gesslbauerr.at) in Birkfeld in the province of Styria. After our return from Albania on Sunday I had made a personal decision and fixed it on Tuesday during a telephone call with my dealer. This means I'm trading in my BMW and buying a brand new Triumph Rocket 3 R Storm in the colour Saphire Black/Graphite. After the last ride I cancelled the insurance and did the paperwork for the selling/buying and that was all to do! I will receive the bike in April 2025 after my 6 months business tour abroad. I ordered it with a quickshifter and heated grips as additional extras. I am really happy now and looking forward to next year!!! My second bike, the BMW R1250 RS, I will use as my prior long journey bike in the future (+5 day journeys). The Rocket I will use for short trips and short international touring up to 5 days in maximum. I am back as a real "Triumphant"!!! Some spec's of my Rocket 3 R Storm: 182 HP 225 Nm 2.458 ccm 317 kg (with fuel) In the following some impressions. Goodbye BMW R12 Nine T. My new Rocket 3 R Storm Some details.
Good for you Markus. I too, never took to my BMW R1150 GS. If it doesn't move the soul, it's got to go Only 6 long slow dragging months to wait. . It'll soon go. On reflection, no it won't, it'll be a pain in the arse waiting for every month to go by . Will look forward to the pics.
@Bikerman: Oh yes, man. You are so right. But the next months would have been "bike-free" for me, due to my engagement abroad. My BMW R1250 RS will wait for me at home and my Rocket 3 R Storm at my dealer. I am really looking forward to spring 2025!!! Of course I will be back with new post and pictures!
@learningtofly: You are right. It is a big bike. I did not ride any meter with it till now. I only maneuvered it by pushing at the dealer forward and backwards for a few metres. In comparison to my BMW it is much easier to maneuver. The center of gravity is due to the enormous engine very low and makes it really easy!
Congratulations, fantastic bike. I've just done a similar thing; traded my BMW R1250GS for a new Honda Goldwing GL1800 DCT. But I'm keeping my Triumph Speed Twin 1200 for fun on my own. The Goldwing is amazing, put it in Sports Mode and hang on; your new Rocket 3 will be a blast.

@David Cooper: You are right! I love the colour scheme of the actual "Storm" model. It looks like the "TFC" special edition of the former Rocket model. The all black scheme.
Hurray, @Markus! A triumphant return to Triumph! Congratulations! I'm sure you will absolutely love that Rocket III.
Wow no hanging about with your decision making there @Markus Congratulations on the new bike, which looks stunning. All the owners I have spoken to rave about the R3
@Sandi T: Thanks Sandi! I am looking forward to spring 2025. Meanwhile I have watched all available YouTube videos already.
Congratulations! Awesome looking bike. Enjoy spring and when you can, do let us see some pictures of the Rocket out in the wild.
