I have a 2015 Bonneville Newchurch. I have a dilemma that I would like some views on. When I'm working/cleaning the bike I don't like it on the side stand, clearly a problem as they don't have a centre stand fitted and my old paddock stand doesn't fit as the pipes are in the way and I don't want keep taking them off all of the time. So, do I fit a centre stand or buy a paddock stand that fits the Bonnie?
Centre stand any day. Think of it this way, a weekend away on it, b&b or camping somewhere, load the bike up at the destination with the centre stand and lube the chain whilst your at it. It also makes sense if your parked in a town if somebody tries to knock it over etc...
Thanks guys. I've ordered a centre stand at the princely sum of £59.99. Should be here sometime next week
That’s cheap, Make sure it’s got all the fittings, as you wouldn’t want to be waiting another week for them to arrive
I've bought from Square Deal UK and it's the same one that Ive seen elsewhere but this is cheaper. http://www.squaredeals-ltd.co.uk/ce...y-not-spirit-t100-bonnie-black-a3-33386-p.asp
Word of warning here ... I bought one from Squaredeals about a year ago and it fitted well but I had to adapt it. After fitting I thought it put the bike too close to the balance point and as I gently pushed the left silencer back on the bike it rolled forward off the centre stand. Luckily it fell to the opposite side from where I was lying pushing the silencer on and fell against a large sheet of 4” Jabalite which was leaning against the garage door so did virtually no damage. I ground down the stop so that it sat back from the balance position and works fine now but in the original state it was an accident waiting to happen. Raised the issue with Squaredeals but not sure if they followed up with the manufacturer. Your might be fine but worth checking when fitted.
Would you recommend the centre stand you bought. I've been looking for a paddock stand but have no idea which one will fit the newchurch.
Usually when you're a newbie and you start a thread when an existing one is there..... You get roasted
Welcome...as you're in the UK I recall Norman Hyde as doing a decent centre stand. The 865's are a but of a pain as the sump hangs down lower than the frame rails. Same problem on my Thunderbird
This is actually my first bike too. Just passed my test in January so I'm not only a forum noob but a bike noob. I would have preferred to buy a paddock stand but can't find a way of knowing if one will fit or not. I heard centre stands reduce ground clearance but I can't imagine that being an issue as I'm not Valentino Rossi.
Yes they will reduce ground clearance but probably not so's you'd notice. As I'm sure I've said before...when I become World Dictator it will be a capital offence to design a bike without a centre stand.
So as this thread suggested I should buy the centre stand and forget about a paddock stand? Cheers lads
Now there's sensible thinking.....so long as you don't intend to have a rear tyre puncture on the road. But a good compromise I think
Well my T100 has a centre stand but if it didn’t....... this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Trad4U-Mot...ocphy=1007303&hvtargid=pla-891315763192&psc=1 Is pretty much the same price and far more use at home. I barely use the centre stand other than in my own garage.......
