I need new rubber for my 2005 Speedmaster and thought I could easily get a matching pair of Avon Cobra or Michelin Commander 2's in sizes 170/80 B15 and 110/80 -18........ wrong! I can get the larger rear tyre in either brand OK, but not the front tyre in the size I want. Is it OK to mix tyre models from the same manufacturer? (been reading about bias and radials) I now think that I will have to get the following combinations..... Avon Cobra (rear) .... and Avon Roadrider (front) OR Michelin Commander II (rear) ....and Michelin Pilot Activ (front) Any thoughts on the above combinations? Cheers!
Get in touch with Avon. Good fella on there, very helpful. Just emailed them, got back to me next day. Can get an Avon storm 2ultra in that front size, might be a better match to a Cobra rear?
Measure existing tyre and compare sizes to a 120 90 18 Avon Cobra. Measurements on their website. My Avon replacement for the oe metz wasn't as wide. Maybe worth comparing actual size with the 120 90 18 they do make?
The only comment I can offer based on personal experience is that the Avon AM26 is an excellent all round tyre, for grip, comfort and wear characteristics.
Thanks for the info, much appreciated. Do you still have the email address you used to ask your question at Avon that I could have? Thanks again!

I received a reply from Ashley at Avon stating... "We recommend the following for your bike. 110/80V18 Roadrider front 170/80B15 Cobra rear I hope this helps" So I guess that's that! I now know what tyres to order for compatibility. Thanks for the replies / information fellas, as always, much appreciated
Finally got new tyres fitted to my Speedmaster ...... Avon Cobra on the rear and Avon Roadrider on the front.
