Hi I got back into biking some 14 years ago and had a variety of brands of bikes but not until now a Triumph. I was also a lucky bxggxr and won my triumph in a raffle for £20. I won a 1993 Triumph trident 900 sprint and got it delivered yesterday. I love it though haven't been able to ride it. I am also the worst person to have an old bike as I have no idea how any bike works. I am looking forward to learning from people on the forum but most of all when national lockdown is ended I can get out into the roads of Cumbria and surrounding counties Graham
Hello and welcome to the forum, Graham! And welcome to the wonderful world of Triumph. Congratulations on actually winning one! We'd love to see a photo of your prize.
Graham Lewis Welcome to the family. What a great prize you lucky man. But don't listen to Dilligaf I'll give you £50 and come and pick it up. Yes you are right on here there are members who specialise in your model and put a great deal of time keeping them looking as good as yours. And if you ever need to know something then you are in the right asylum here these inmates live and breathe Triumph and just about every other bike out there. Of course there are some that really stand out and are so knowledgeable. It just costs you a bottle or two of Jack Daniels only joking. That is another trait on here you will find they do like some Tom Foolery all in the best taste. So great bike and my favourite colour congratulations. Joe.
What a scoop! I won a bottle of shite wine once. Thankfully it wasn’t necessary in those days to join a forum to share the information. Joking aside - please get stuck in to the community. ‘Whispers quietly’ - There are all sorts here, one or two can even read! occasionally people don’t argue! As others have said, photos of your Triumph journey will be well received.
I once won a half bottle of gin ...... I hate gin!!!!! I also hate people who win blue Trident Sprints for £20!!!!!! I can only hope that nobody tells him what a great bike he now has and that he should change the oil and filter regularly ('cos it deserves it) and keep the battery in tip top fettle in order to protect the starter sprag clutch. Tee hee, that'll larn him! HUH!! Jealous?? Moi??? Of course I fookin' am!!!
I think you’re the first person here I’ve seen that actually won their bike. Congratulations - what a great prize! And welcome to the forum.
There was another guy who won a bike on here in the last year or two, Octoberon. But I don't remember his name. I believe his story and photos were a featured thread. Anyone out there recall who I'm thinking of???
Thank you, Happy to provide liquid or food bribes as I am totally incompetent mechanic as was proved this morning when walking into the garage and finding a large puddle or petrol under the bike!!!! Think solved and then battery died, then flooded the bike and only just got the bike ticking over without cutting out. Odd I loved it,
agreed and battery died today after finding a puddle of petrol unde the bike, new battery coming from the dealer who delivered it.It has a new snag clutch whatever that is
Is the fuel tap pointing east-west or north-south? It should be east-west. North-south, with the pointy bit (a technical term!) at 12 o'clock, is the 'prime' position and allows fuel to by-pass the (vacuum) tap and flood anything it can reach. Think of the sprag clutch on the starter motor as your leg/ankle when kickstarting a bike in the 'good old days'. If the engine kicked back, for whatever reason, it could/would break your ankle or leg, or at the very least try to put you into orbit. All this would smart somewhat!! Happy days!
