Hi everyone! I recently got back onto two wheels with my gorgeous Triumph Street Cup and have been absolutely over the moon with it....
However, disaster struck 3 weeks ago when a driver decided to pull a 3-point turn on a blind bend!! Luckily, there was a DS from Thames Valley Police right behind him so I had the best witness possible...but the sad news is they're now talking about "uneconomical repair" I managed to break pretty hard so the impact wasn't as bad as it could have been and I luckily didn't hit the floor but the forks took a pretty hard hit and possibly the radiator too (pics below). It's only now that I'm seeing how expensive forks etc are for this bike (£900 per fork!?!?!) which explains the write-off. I'm thinking of a buy-back and doing the repairs but was wondering how interchangeable parts are across the Cup/Twin/Bonnie/Thruxton. I know there's a lot of cross-over but was wondering if anyone has switched in some Thruxton forks as I've seen a reasonably inexpensive set and money is a real problem for me atm.
@WheelzLaunder Welcome to the family. Your top yoke looks bent as well so frame needs to checked pretty well. And the thing is you now get a category on your bike making it worth less an possibility of your insurance going up. It all stacks against the biker. I have in the past argued the case and demanded the insurance replace the bike with like and the same milage and colour. It worked for me. Of course that won't change the out come of their report but it may gain you some more cash to replace it. And sorry to hear of your dilemma.
That's if they even bother checking! I really think this will be written off without a proper check for "uneconomical repair" which will mean I'm on the hunt for a new one...loved it so much I'll need a like-for-like replacement!
