After a bit of soul-searching I've finally decided to trade in my lovely RE Himalayan froa Tiger 900GT. After a test-ride I was sold on the extra power and comfort, especially as I do regular trips to Northern France to visit family. Picking up the bike on Friday - can't wait. I'll be browsing these forums for hints and tips on ownership etc.

Thanks everyone - nice to get a warm welcome. Nearly there now and yes, it'll be a new experience after my single-cylinder thumper. I'll miss the lovely sound of the long-stroke at low revs but almost everything else will compensate!

Took delivery today and WHAT a ride home! Quite sedate (heavy traffic and I was following my wife in the car!) but quickly got used to it - even the dreaded 'menu joystick too near the indicator button' problem didn't trouble me. Now for some fun customising the TFT and so on. Nice to have a friendly forum for posting questions and stuff (not to mention reading reams of already-answered queries!).

Thanks Geoff. As I think about every bike on the road - no bike is perfect and there's no bike that will suit everyone but if you're happy with your own bike, then it's perfect - for you. I loved my RE Himalayan and that was perfect for me at the time - I've just outgrown it and want to do longer distances in comfort, hence the change. As I said above, I do miss the lovely sound of the single thumper (the Tiger is just a bit 'buzzy' for me...!) but everything else is much better. Oh, anyone find the handgrips very small on the Tiger? The RE has nice chunky ones and the Tiger ones seem a bit spindly. Just a comment, no complaint.

Try fitting some grip puppies, they increase the diameter of your grips and help with vibration too

Heated grips will also increase the diameter ;)
