Hello all, l am new to the new Triumphs, having just bought a speed triple 94 after over 20 years on BMW twins.....big difference! Enjoying the ST, and plan to ride it to the dragon rally in Feb (my 28th). So by the time I get back to Dorset we should be well acquainted. Just wondering if anybody knows the size of the socket required to remove the oil filter canister?
Speeder Welcome to the Family. You know the inmates will want a picture of the steeds. Keeps them quite. Ride Safe Joe
undefined Thanks, I think the best thing will be to buy a filter and then measure up....typical I have a couple of these cups for cars, but not that size!
Welcome aboard speeder from another Dorset based Speedy owner, my first Triumph and loving it, hope you enjoy the forum and your new steed
Welcome Speeder. You say it's a "speed triple 94" - does that mean it's a 1994 Speed Triple 900 (T3)? If so, the original, standard oil filter is a replaceable element in the sump and not a spin on cartridge. I can let you know the size of the hex head on the filter plate tomorrow but, if it's somehow been converted to take a cartridge type, all bets are off and I won't be able to provide any help or information at all! Heck Speeder, by the time you get back to Dorset from The Dragon in February you'll be more than well acquainted, you'll be f...f....f.... 'kin freezing! (I assume 28th is not your birthday but 28th Dragoon Rally attendance?) Cajones muy grande, amigo - y congelado tambien!!!
undefined First let me thank everyone for their kind welcomes. Not wishing to bore you all but I did my first dragon in 1975 on a merden Bonnie. This continued until 1980 when I had a 12 year break and started again in 1992 on BMW's. As you will have gathered I am getting on a bit...th salesman at crescents was a bit amused at selling a speed tripple to a 64 year old. The bike is a 2016 model and I think I can still hack it with the best of 'em
