EDIT: I have posted before, but didn't introduce myself I think - and haven't been here for a while, so... I've rejoined the club after 15 years in the wilderness! Had to sell my Tiger 900 in 2005 (which I bought new in 2000) as I have some spinal injuries and my bum went completely numb for a long time. Have you ever tried to ride a motorbike with a totally numb bum? It's very scary - you think you are going to fall off at every bend or junction. I thought my biking days were over and sold it, with a very heavy heart - but the guy who bought it, who came all the way from Liverpool (I'm near Sportsbikeshop) was a true enthusiast, so it went to a good home. A few years later I was able to ride again and in 2020, despite covid, I made a few trips to Webbs of Lincoln for test rides and got a new Street Scrambler on PCP. Not had a bike on PCP before and up until today I hadn't ridden it in winter as I was worried about keeping it in fine fettle for when I have to give it back. But today I thought "stuff it!" and went down to see my Mother in Stamford, riding on the back roads and getting the bike thoroughly mucked-up with salty crud! Now I'm aching from the amount of scrubbing I had to do when I got home... I did sign up for the Bardney branch of TOMCC as I love riding the roads around there - it's my test area for the bikes I test ride from Webb's. But they didn't seem to be doing much so I switched to Bourne - good roads around there, too, so I don't lose out. All I have to do is actually turn up to a meeting! Hoping to do some green laning this year - there is a track nearby that goes along the Welland, it's very bumpy but if I could manage it on my old BMW F650ST I can certainly do it on the Bonnie Scrambler. There's also another one further south, near Crowland which I want to do.
Greetings, JD, and welcome back to the forum! Thanks for your great introduction. How wonderful that you are once again able to ride. You must be very happy about that. Thanks for sharing a photo of your bike. Looks like you're having fun with it! Also, that's a sweet looking dog you have. Please consider sharing a photo or two of him or her on the Our Pets thread!
Hi JD, it's really good to see a dirty bike, that's how they should be after riding (and I feel less guilty about mine ) Welcome, bienvenue,
Hi and welcome! I can relate to the numb bum as I also have some spinal injuries but it is my legs / feet that become affected. It can be really worrying / disconcerting I agree. Pleased to hear you're good to get back on a bike though .
