I want to complain how this bike has been nothing but trouble, but I'll leave it at that and cut to the chase.

After the other work I've done to this bike 95' Trophy 3 900 with 39k miles I have been riding it, but would need to "prime" the carburetors with a shot of starting fluid or carb cleaner. It literally acted like it was not getting gas until I gave it a squirt. Once it was started for the day I could restart it with a twist of the throttle for the rest of the day even several hours later.
Not anymore. I stopped for about an hour the other day at my buddies. The bike would not restart and acted like it was flooded. Shot of starter fluid did nothing. The next day it started up like usual with a shot of starter fluid. I next rode to my brothers and stopped for about an hour. Bike would not restart and acted like it was flooded. I roll started it on a big downhill, but stalled it at the bottom and could not restart it. After a good samaritan pulled me back up the hill I roll started it again and rode it home stopping once at a gas station which it almost didn't restart. Now I can start it in the morning with starter fluid, but once it has been running I can only restart it by rolling it off.
Is there a fix other than setting the effing thing on fire?
    ps. the choke does work.

Turns out it was the crank shaft position sensor. Letting it sit must have gotten the sensor just hot enough to not work. The sensor got bad enough it would shut off mid ride once warmed up. I changed it, and also fixed what I thought was a flooding problem..

I think, on these bikes the carbs take a lot of the blame when it is REALLY the fact that they have a really crappy ignition system. ...J.D.
