hi, i am new to this forum so let me know if there are any rules or things i need to include

i got on my bike this morning, which is a 2013 bonneville t100 and realised my MIL light was on. it started fine and sounded ok so drove for a bit when I parked the bike and got off i realised a wire was coming out the front, it was four smaller wires that go into 4 small long rectangular plugs.

it looks fairly easy to fix if you know which wire goes in where but there are no labels or colour coordination. is anyone able to help? i would be keen to fix this myself rather than be left with a big bill in the garage.

i have tried to attach a pic below. thank you in advance!

Hi Ben, That looks like the cable that goes from the O² sensor in the RHS downpipe to a plug under the front end of the tank.

This is almost certainly why your MIL is on.

hi Dave, many thanks for the response. Do you think this would be easy to fix and any ideas on how to match up the wires? or is it a job for the triumph mechanics?

Also am i safe riding around at the moment? sounds like something for an indicator if something did go wrong in engine? maybe I can just wait for the service in May.

Hi Ben it really depends on how the bike feels.

To understand more, it's the O² sensors that feed information to the ECU to adjust fuelling within a narrow range. As you can imagine if one sensor is disconnected it cannot feed info for the fuelling adjustments.

If you follow the other side lead you'll find the plug & socket for the other sensor as well as the socket for this RHS one.

MAKE SURE that the cable we're talking about is indeed the one from the RHS sensor so you're sure we're on the same wavelength. Assuming it is, it would be a very straightforward matter to replace the sensor with it's cable and plug.

I have one in stock that you have have for peanuts plus the postage.

    Hi Dave
I have been reading about that bit on the forums and I am pretty sure it is the wire. A lot of people seem to think it unncessary and put in a bypasser instead?

Either way would be keen to get it fixed. do you have a link or something so that I can get it off you?

Hi Ben it doesn't need a complicated "How to.........." it is literally unscrew one sensor using an open-ended spanner of the appropriate size, screw in the new sensor and pass the cable and plug up to it's socket -THAT'S IT !!!!

perfect thank you, I meant in terms of the link to buy the part? how can I get that off you or shall I just pop to a garage?

in terms of the how to it looks fairly basic replacing it at the bottom but not so much at the top where it goes into the speedometer part.

It also missing the screw that kept it in place so probably need to replace that otherwise it may just happen again, though could get some wire ties to hold it in place.

I have attached a few pictures, but without seeing the part I am not sure what bit I need to replace? thanks so much for your help, this forum is great.

    Hi benfj
If you look at this site it might help, i know it's a yank site and I haven't looked through it all. But it has the wiring colour codes!

    thanks guys,

    email is [email protected]

if you are able to send me a pic or link of the part as well? as then may indicate whether this is in my ability to do.

to be honest the bike is almost sounding and running better without this thing, but unnerving to have a wire sticking out!
