Good afternoon All, I've come along to join you and see if you can help me with a dilemma. I've got an old 885 Tiger (1993) that I'm thinking of finally retiring and a 2008 Speed Triple. I'm considering the Tiger 800 XC (I prefer the look to the XR) but is the the more recent 2015 version worth the extra money and goodies over the 2012-2014 version? My apologies if the question has been asked before. Jerry
The preferred beer. That’s a big question. My personal choice would be Theakstons Old Peculiar, a nice dark porter. But don’t bother with it unless you’re close to the brewery.
Hi Jerry, I’m with you on the Old Peculier and am lucky enough to have done the brewery trip Regarding the Tiger have you had a look online for any magazine reviews that might give you some idea what the differences are and whether it’s worth spending the extra on the later bike.
Thank you all for the warm welcomes. The difference between the two models appears to be gadgets and fuel economy. But I’ve not found any reviews comparing the two back to back. I fancy the 2014 XC SE but electronic baubles on the newer version.... Compared to my Steamer either would be quicker etc.
Hi Jerry. Go demo one of the current XR and XC bikes. That'll give you an idea of which you prefer - the road-going configuration (XR) or the off-road-ish version (XC). I ride on road all the time and have an XR. A mate rides road all the time and has an XC. We both love them.
Hi Rich. Thank you for that and my apologies if I’ve been vague but the question isn’t XC or XR. It’s 2014 XC or 2015 XC? I believe that’s when the 200 modifications were done to evolve into the current model.
Welcome aboard Jerry, I'm a speed triple man myself but I'm sure you'll get some good views and insights from some of the gang soon on the tiger.
