Can anyone offer advice? I've crashed my bike in south west France and my insurance is advising that I ask a garage to recover and assess the damage. I can't find a list of Triumph dealers or specialists in France anywhere. I don't really want to have just any old garage work on it. Don't know what's best to do. Disaster.

    Thanks,
    Alisdair

Yeah I'm ok, thanks. Nothing serious (he says!). Hit with some kind of monsoon and turned these windy basque country roads into ice, bike just flew from under me around a tight bend, was going very slowly which is something I suppose. Doesn't look like too much damage to me or the bike. Cheers guys.

    Hello.
The main dealer in S.W.France is "Zone Rouge" located at Merignac near to Bordeaux.
They are closed on Sunday and Monday.

    Good Luck.

    Thanks for the replies.

My bike is a 2014 so unfortunately no warranty.

I've been told there's a triumph specialist garage in Biarritz which is very close. I'll get in touch with the dealership in Merignac Tuesday and see what they suggest.

I just wonder if my insurance company might kick up fuss if I have it recovered and repaired by an expensive Triumph garage that's miles away, rather than the local joint that's closest to the bike. I guess it's just down to who can do the job.

Thanks again for all your help.

Well I'm on my way around Spain and Portugal and back through France for the whole summer (Porto bikers fest), so I don't mind going through insurance for peace of mind. I don't think it's major but I'm planning to cover a lot more miles and I'm concerned now it's been slammed.

The back brake and peg took the brunt. Apart from that it seems mostly cosmetic. The handle bars and forks seemed straight. The front break lever and throttle took a whack and are a tiny bit bent. But really I'm no expert. I've had to leave the bike at someone's house while I got to a town and somewhere to stay.

Crowbar, good weight hammer, wooden sweeping brush handle would put you on your way. Use the sweeping brush handle as a foot peg. Cut to length and try to bore a m10 hole in it for the bolt. Bit naughty but It'll be handy if there was a large diy store nearby, buy a brush, test a battery drill and stick a drill bit in from a pack when no one is looking!!

Would a rear footrest fit into the front as a temp repair ?

    If it helps......

    Zone Rouge,
    6 Rue Gutenberg,
    33700,
    Merignac.

Above is near to Bordeaux, about 15 k. and Merignac is where Bordeaux air port is.
I'm at Bergerac about 100 k. from Merignac.
Pain in the bottom being closed on the Monday, but I'm afraid that's the norm.for this type of business.

    Good Luck.

I forgot, the telephone no is 0557290000.
They speak some English, if that is needed.
I have never dealt with them so consequently unable to comment on how good or bad they are.

I'm afraid this doesn't really help but my Tbird LT suffered a diesel related tarmac interface near Lyon, last September. Fortunately, I always print-off the country's Triumph dealers and could see there was one in Sevrey, plus I had rescue insurance. Both Green Flag and Triumph came good. The bike was unrideable as it went down on both sides (!) and wiped out brakes, throttle and footrests. I told my 6 companions to carry on and had the bike delivered to the dealer in Sevrey. They told me they could make it rideable in 6 hours or as good as new in a week (sod the insurers); I went for the 1st option and by early afternoon was away.

They charged me €32!!! I gave another €20 to the mechanic and was with my mates by the end of the day - they were truly amazed.

Back home the bike needed £1600 of repairs.
