I really, really, like my Speedmaster 2018. Really.

Except one thing: although I have the cruising screen fitted, I've had a lot of buffering.

I have not, however, enjoyed my Shoei Neotec modular helmet - because I stupidly bought a size too small. The result? Painful ears, and great discomfort. Ridiculous on my part, particularly as it's an expensive helmet.

Like Robert The Bruce's spider, I don't give up easily: I've now shelled out another fortune on a Neotec 2 - one size up.

My earache has gone - and, miraculously, so has the turbulence. Although expensive, the helmet has transformed my riding enjoyment.

Nature has rendered that option to be of little value...
