Sorry to see that you are on the Injured Reserve list. Hope that you bounce back quickly. Did you fully rupture your ACL?

I do some skiing, and will be in Winter Park in March. I hope that the snow gods are on duty! The East Coast has been marginal.

I assume that you use the BMW off-road as well as on the asphalt, right? The new Speedy will be a fun ride on the roads, though. Not quite the same riding position, but I'm sure that you are happy with the bike. Good luck!

PS. Where do you ride? I enjoyed the ride up into Estes Park from Loveland to the continental divide. Great roads!

Don't know how you can engage in such risky sports like skiing. Surely you should stay at home, it's far too dangerous out there.

Thanks so much. The weather, here in Colorado was pretty cold anyway, so I’m not missing out on too much riding. Maybe soon though!

    Hello Rob,
Good luck with your skiing in March. I wish I could speak to the quality of the snow, but that was literally done on my third turn of the first run of the season. So I have no idea what it’s been like since then. Yeah I do use the BMW off-road, but I am thinking of selling it. Actually have it up for sale, if I can get a good price for it. Otherwise, trying to let it sit for a while and my wife to get used to two bikes in the garage. Maybe that’ll work. I was looking for something that is a little easier to get on an off of, with a bad lower back that I have. Shorter rides, easy on and off, and I’ve had several triumphs, and always love them. So Here I am. Yes, I’d love to do some riding sometime and I go to Estes Park and Continental divide rides all the time. When the weather warms up, let’s see if we can get together. Cheers.

I wish that I could, Dave, but I live in NJ. My trip out west brought my wife, me, a travel trailer and my Sprint GT through CO to the National Parks in Utah for about a month. I'm not likely to carry the bike out again soon, although my mother-in-law lives in Colorado (from where I rode into Estes, returning through Glen Haven). That was one of my favorite rides, although a stretch of gravel road was not in the plan!
My 6'-4" son is riding a starter bike (Honda Rebel 250), and looks like a clown in a circus on a tricycle! He is making noises about a dual sport. What is the price range for a bike like your BMW?

And, the timing of your injury is the worst! It would have been nice to get a few days in first before getting benched for the season.

Estes Park is one of my favorite places and it doesn't get better than riding in Rocky Mountain National Park and stopping at Many Parks Curve!

This is what it took to get my bike out there!
Motorcycle in Truck and camper.jpg This and 5,800 miles of driving the truck and 1,300 miles on the bike to play tourist.

Welcome to the forum, Davepski. I'm jealous of you getting to ride through Estes Park and the Continental Divide often but I'm happy to have the memories. Learned to ride many years ago in Colorado Springs. Here's a pic of stopping for a photo op at Many Parks Curve while riding two-up with my yet-to-be handsome husband all those years ago. (His jeans bear the evidence of a roadside Norton repair.) Hope you heal fast and get to enjoying the latest bike; in the meantime I hope you enjoy the forum.
