Hi, I was glad to find a UK Triumph forum, alas I do not own a Triumph at the moment but hoping to do so soon. I currently ride a Suzuki GS500E and have been since I pasted my test 2 years ago (on that same bike) and I am now looking for my next bike. Dad always had Triumphs when I was growing up and I would so love my next bike to be one, if I can find one to suit. I would like a sporty bike for local sunny rides, short w/end trips to BSB or MotoGP and occasional pillion rides but not something I have to redline all the time, not my riding style. My Dad has just brought a '98 Sprint 900' which is absolutely beautiful but it feels a bit big and heavy even though I'm 5'11. I have been looking at the TT600 and putting a restrictor kit on until I get used to the bike, dose anyone know how this affects the bike and will I still have to rev the nuts off it? My GS has 47bhp and that is enough power for now, but once I get used to the bike the restrictor will come off. That was the idea anyway. My budget is tight £1500 not much more. Sometimes I feel like I'm asking for an impossible bike if so please tell me. lol. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks :upyeah:
Welcome Kingsnake! Sounds like your describing a Speed Triple - bit sporty but doesn't need lots of revs to keep it moving - occasional track days but capable of relaxed outings too. Not sure of 2nd hand prices though. Plenty of people here to advise though. Good luck! bb
Welcome to the forum ,have a look on E Bay or Gumtreeit will give u an idea of prices you will have to pay and you never know u might just get yourself a bargain :upyeah:
http://http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201306307562063/sort/recpriceascdefault/usedbikes/price-to/2000/make/triumph/postcode/de126be/radius/1500/page/2?logcode=p You can pick one of these up for the sort of cash you were think, quite light bike, sporty and handle quite well. As you have already ridden for two years since passing your test you do not need to restrict the new bike, you have done your apprenticeship time to enjoy riding a full powered bike. It will be so much more enjoyable and after all the throttle goes both ways, take your time for a start and good luck :upyeah:
Well the link don't work but you can pick up a decent TT 600 for that sort of cash on Autotrader, if you buy on e-bay try to visit prior to bidding, get an HPI check there are quite a few crash damaged / repaired bikes out there
Speed Tripple is 900cc + basically your dads bike without the fairing. Sounds like it maybe a bit big for you. If you can spend a bit more as the hold their value, then the speed 4 will be a good easy bike and I doubt you'll need a restrictor either.. 600cc naked, not too sporty but plenty of power if required for when you have more experience.
