    Hello,

I am the proud (I hope at least) owner of a 2001 955i Speed Triple. It has a slight issue with blowing the 10A fuse after it has been ridden... So it is going to be fun to root out this electrical gremlin and make good the loom.

58,600 miles on the clocks, in a somewhat tatty state, but it is all I need to have a bit of fun on and I like the older bikes. Commiserations most welcome, ideas on how to fix it more so!!

Turns out that 10A fuse is meant to be a 30A fuse! Previous owner was sticking 10A fuses in there repeatedly. Nothing like Google images to check what is supposed to be in the fuse box! Might be a very cheap fix!

Previous owner had it from 2012. He was happy to part with the bike. Recent starter and relay fitted. Surprised that it is a simple incorrect fuse issue. Easy fix for me so far. It comes with the TOR exhaust which is "fruity". I've started with a bit of gentle cleaning on the bike, ordered some shorty levers, a new instrument backing panel as old one is fractured, £30 for a new one on Ebay. Abba stand on the way to me as well (it came with the bits to hold it in place).

Used to have a Daytona 900, a 2000 Sprint RS (same engine as SP3) and 2002 Sprint RS, newer 955i engine. All lovely bikes, but I've been after an SP3 or a nice KTM 990SDR, but that would entail me losing my license!!, so perhaps not!

Welcome to the family. Nice bike and great fix it seems. It will go down well here in the asylum as the inmates do favour black seems to be one of the favourite colours. Thanks for sharing the great pictures and a great intro.

LED lights and LED main lights. High Beam is instant and bright. Pattern is okay too by the looks of it.

I will sort out the light rubber boots later as they don't fit over the LED fan housing. It is waterproof, but aesthetics and all that....

Quick update. Done short blats on the dual carriage way. It runs fine, needs a new clutch cable for sure! Very notchy and rough, can see the fraying edges.

The rear hub was greased when the pads/discs were changed 1000 miles ago, so that is very good news. The engine oil was changed with filter in August... Very dark though. I may just drop oil and give it a fresh lot for my peace of mind. New filter as well.

Light, easy to ride, may change pads for SBS ones for a touch more bite, but these ones are okay as they are, but not as progressive as I like. They need a fair bit of pressure to get a good stopping power.

Bought a custom length C Spanner, Headstock socket, new seat pads front and rear and bar risers (not pictured!). And the full Triumph Workshop Manual! Well worth having these bits and will make life a lot easier in maintenance going forward.

Aesthetically this is my favorite Speed Triple (and I have a 2020 RS). I wanted a Nuclear Red Speedy since the first one t saw in 2001 but the stars never aligned.

    Congratulations and welcome aboard!!!
