    Hi,
I want to add heated grips to the 2015 Tiger 800 XRX but have been told there may be issues because of the fly by wire set up ?
I want the Oxford Hot Grips Premium Sports OF692. I specifically want them as they are easy to fit and a good price.
Any ideas or guidance as I have been told today there are sensors in my grips to do with the fly by wire ?

    Thanks

    Stu

I have fitted the above to my old 16 plate Speed Triple and my new Speed twin with no issues, use a new stanley blade to shave off the plastic ridges on the throttle tube.

I fitted Oxford to my Street Twin which is also fly by wire thingymajig, rather than mess with my throttle I purchased a new throttle tube allowing me to remove the grip and tube intact. When you do this you need some special screwdriver some three sided thing which I had to buy and wait for.

All in all works well, when I do it again I wont bother with a new throttle tube just carefully remove grip and leave tube in-place, you need to remember to file down the small raised fins on the tube or the Oxford wont go on. Took under an hour, even for a ham fisted ape like me

Best mod ever, all future bikes will have heated grips

I have now fitted them to my XRX.
Relatively straight forward and it has no effect on the ride by wire throttle. The electronics for that are housed in the RH control not in the throttle tube.
You will need to cut and file a lot off the tube to get the new grip on. Once all the raised bits and the lip at the bar end are removed you still need to file off another layer - use the spiral groove as a guide. I used a file and medium grade sandpaper.
I took the LH side tank fairing off to route the wires from the battery.

There is a hidden clip on the inside of the fairing that attaches near the bottom side of the radiator - careful with this as it easily snaps off!

I hope you secured the wiring that runs back to the battery. i.e. hammer in six inch nails with a lump hammer then bend them over, that way the wiring will be secure as hell. Got this tip off the internet. o_O

Even better Andy! I read on the internet that I should drill holes through the frame and feed the wires through them!

Thanks for the replies, really helpful. Just recovering from concussion and will tackle it in the next few weeks when I'm up to it.

Just a quicky, could you have fitted them and hidden wires without taking any panels off other than the seat. It's just that after having the off on the bike and most upper panels incl tank etc replaced I'm loathed to take any of the panels off .
    Thanks
