    Hello all, merry Christmas etc.

Headlights....I am looking to upgrade my standard headlights (the bulbs) on my bug eyed 2002 Speed Triple 955i.

I have read that anything too fancy can create more issues than it solves, so any help or suggestions or advice etc for upgrades?

I'm only talking about improving the range of the beam, the brightness of the beam, and maybe a whiter light than the standard.

    I was thinking these. https://www.halfords.com/motorcycli...150-percent-headlight-bulb-472-h4-560125.html

But will consider LEDs based on your advice.

What about things like spread? Angle etc?

    Thank you!

Hi, have a look at the PIAA xenon bulb range, just like a normal bulb, but on steroids. Simple fit and forget option.

Alas replacing halogens for HID/Halogens is an MOT fail. Plus, I think the issue over heat and space for the block may also be issues.

I was mainly considering LED but wary of spread issues with my reflectors?

Anyone know what those issues are?

Angle I can likely adjust, but spread...?

Very good units, you need to adjust the level from standard as they are slightly higher
The light is bright white with a good spread, 10x better visibility than standard H4 bulbs

I had an issue after a year with the main beam relay, but just replaced that with a Halfords generic one and works fine

Just remembered, mine has gone through two MOT with the new headlight units, no issue at all
You will need to check the height and angle (left/right) of each unit so it doesn't dazzle oncoming traffic

Also, there is no daylight running light on mine, I just tucked the wires (with the small bulb still attached) behind the new unit.
I believe there are Wisamic units with the Halo ring light effect which uses the DLR connection - but may need a bit of wire chopping and new connections

Thanks Red Thunder, I am anticipating a bit of light adjustment, and looking forward to it rather than phased by it. Likewise the disposal or connecting of the necessary wires - I went with the halo option.

    I'll report back!

    Cheers!

    What a shmuck!

Single headlights don't come in pairs. They come in singles. So, erm...I need to order a second one. :confounded:

Plugged the first one in though and is brilliant!

    Simply plug and play.

And, as a general guide for others... If I can do it...

    I have full beam.
    I have dipped beam.
Need to work out what to do to have "side lights". I'm guessing
I need to fiddle with some wires somewhere.

When "on the seat" facing forwards it was the right hand light I replaced. Does that even have 'side light'?

Glad it went in well, yeah, shame they don't come in pairs
Pictures when done will be good

If I remember rightly, there is a separate connector for the side light/daylight light, so may need to chop the current connection and fix on the new one

Ok...i am learning the brave new world of motorcycle electrics....

I spent the extra money on the pretty looking 'halo' varient lights. But, thinking about it, I don't ride on side lights, I always have dipped beam as a minimum.

So...I may return them for the standard/non halo units.

BUT, if I were to connect up the halo - to the sidelights, can you, er...shed any light :)rolleyes:) on what I need to connect in to on the loom?

Is it the sidelights red/green shown here? I assume (have followed) the black to ground?

    Thank you!
